Home Curiosity DJs playing jazz records

In the year 1943, the radio DJ Jimmy Savile threw the world’s first party with fellow DJs playing jazz records in the upstairs function room of the Loyal Order of Ancient Shepherds in Otley, England. The author of this shot was part of the Photographic Division of the Ministry of Information. This image was scanned and released by the Imperial War Museum under the non-commercial license of the IWM.

The image was cataloged by the IWM as having been created for the Ministry of Information, which was disbanded in 1946. Consequently the image and faithful reproductions are considered Crown Copyright, which has now expired as the photograph was taken before the first June day 1957.
