Born in 1985 in Rome and graduated in Applied Medical Biotechnology with a PhD in research on drugs and rare pediatric genetic diseases, Damiano Sergio Massaro is a true, multifaceted, ingenious and transversal artist. Author of the novel “SWITCH” and backing vocalist since 2009, Damiano Sergio Massaro aka DamianoSergio began a solo career in 2021 thanks to the record label Strakton Records based in Rome and London. His musical producer is Federico Kay while Valerio Trimboli is his trusted manager.
Damiano Sergio Massaro has three singles to his credit (“Come seems”, “Tropicale” and the latest, in chronological order, “Parole e Pallottole”), present on all music platforms. He also has an album scheduled for release next spring. It seems that Damiano Sergio is also thinking about electronic music. But he is a rumor. It describes his relationship with producer Federico Kay and how it influenced his musical style.
“Federico Kay has a boundless musical culture, so his way of researching, experimenting and always trying new sounds, harmonies and use of words is super compelling. It is precisely thanks to this historical memory of Italian and international music that we manage to do what I call ‘magic’, we get there and in a few hours, if it works, sounds and words come out and begin to merge and then he refines the cut more effective in getting what I’m singing about across”.
The most significant moment was certainly the one in which you met Valerio, Federico and the Strakton staff.
“Yeah, the proposal to embark on a solo career meant literally breaking out of the choir, stopping writing alone in the bedroom or painting alone at night, but singing and above all performing my songs live. This was perhaps my greatest challenge, to experience the product of my work as a listener while they listen to me and while I perform it”.
