While November 2nd is for remembering the dead, November 1st in Milan might mark the end of an era for superficial nightlife. At the heart of this small revolution is Spazio_Diaz, launching ’12 Inch’—a project that is not just a nostalgic tribute to vinyl but an act of aesthetic and technical resistance. Eight and a half hours of music, from 11:30 PM to 8:00 AM, woven exclusively from 33 and 45 RPM records, without the aid of digital synchronizers, in a radical challenge that forces a rethinking of what it means to perform in a club. At the door, an inflexible policy: sealing stickers to be applied to smartphones, creating a space free from the tyranny of social media, where experience regains its physicality and sound its priority.

Behind this bold operation are three figures who have shaped the history of Italian clubbing: Ricky Montanari, a pioneer of Romagnol house; Simon T, a dj and producer with a solid international career; and Flavio Vecchi, a historic icon of the scene, creator of legendary after-hours. The choice of vinyl is not a fetish but a technical and philosophical stance: the record forces a considered selection, makes every mix an irreversible gesture, and exposes the dj to the risk of error, restoring authenticity and vulnerability to an often-standardized performance. In a time of post-pandemic format homogenization, 12 Inch proposes an alternative path, accessible in price but rigorous in intent, to reclaim the value of skill and human connection. Not a simple return to the past, but an attempt to redefine the future of dance culture, removing the background noise to rediscover the essence of the dance.
