Idris Elba is one of North America’s most successful actors, he’s increasing his love for dance music after signing a multi-single deal with Defected. The deal with Defected is a pivotal moment in Elba’s DJing and production career, providing a venerable platform for a series of upcoming singles, which will be released under his IDRIS alias via Defected and its D4 sublabel D4NCE. The British icon had performed at a handful of Defected’s international events, including parties at Miami Music Week and The Warehouse Project in Manchester in 2023.
Idris has now released his first solo song with the label, “La Trumpeta,” a sultry house track that the label says showcases his “global sound in full force.” Check it out below. The announcement of Elba’s Defected deal comes on the heels of his remix of Fish Go Deep and Tracey K’s “The Cure & The Cause,” released to celebrate Defected’s 25th anniversary. “I am truly thrilled to be able to announce this signing with Defected Records,” Elba said in a press release. “Since I worked with them on ‘No More Looking Back’ and played various parties with them over the years, it seemed natural to release some of my original songs with them. You guys are not ready for what’s to come”.
