On Friday, November 20, 2026, from 5:30 pm to 6:30 pm, 4CMP Academy in Milan, located at Via Tertulliano 37, will host one of Midance’s most hands-on events during Milano Music Week: a workshop dedicated to anyone turning an ordinary room into a small creative laboratory. The session will be led by Paolo Aliberti of INMONO Sound Lab, a Brescia-based company.
Aliberti brings more than thirty years of experience as a music producer and sound engineer, with two platinum records and several gold records to his name, as well as the recent design and construction of his own new professional studios together with Donato Masci.
The event, however, is not intended to become a lesson in applied acoustics. Aliberti makes it clear that he is not an acoustic designer; instead, he will share the perspective of a professional who has spent decades working in front of studio monitors. The starting point will be a comparison between a typical domestic room and a space specifically designed for high-quality listening, highlighting the main challenges faced by those who produce music at home and identifying practical measures that can genuinely improve the reliability of what they hear.
The programme will cover speaker positioning, monitor selection, low-frequency management, sound reflections, acoustic treatment, the most common mistakes made in home studios, and the use of headphones. The approach will be practical, straightforward and accessible even to those with limited technical experience.
The aim is to provide greater awareness and immediately applicable solutions for anyone making music at home, helping participants avoid unnecessary expenses, misleading assumptions and solutions that may look convincing on paper but fail in real-world listening conditions.
