The Oscars gift bag is the famously lavish bundle of products and experiences given to the nominees in the acting and directing categories, plus the host. The surprise is that it has nothing to do with the Academy. It is assembled by Distinctive Assets, a Los Angeles marketing company that has been putting it together for more than two decades, and it goes to every nominee in those categories, so even the people who leave without a statuette go home with something.
The contents read like a fantasy shopping list. Recent editions have included stays in the Maldives and Barcelona, an ancestry research experience, skincare and a cutting board, while the 2026 bag offered a villa stay in Ibiza for up to 16 guests, with a total value estimated at around 350,000 dollars. There is a twist worthy of a screenplay: in the United States much of it counts as taxable income, so the luckiest losers in Hollywood can also expect paperwork.
