Romania’s largest music festivals, UNTOLD and Neversea, have launched the longest-running national blood donation campaign, now in its tenth edition. Since the Blood Network campaign began, over 18,000 donors have saved more than 60,000 lives. This year the call to action to help those in need runs from May 18th to June 30th. Donors are expected to participate in the mobile caravan, which will visit ten cities in Romania and blood transfusion centers across the country.
Those who donate to the mobile caravan receive free tickets to UNTOLD Festival, one of the largest music festivals in the world, or Neversea, Europe’s largest beach festival. Those who donate to blood transfusion centers across Romania get discounts on festival passes.
This blood donation campaign began in 2015, with the first edition of the UNTOLD Festival, which won the award for Best Major Festival in Europe, a first for a festival that received this recognition after its first edition. The organizers were inspired by the myth of Dracula and the Transylvanian vampires who usually suck blood, and gave this twist to donating it and saving human lives. One person can save three lives through a blood donation.
Initially called Pay with Blood, it was renamed Blood Network in its second year of existence. It is the longest and most successful blood donation campaign in Romania. It is a unique initiative and being in the heart of Transylvania, the UNTOLD team found this element of authenticity to attract donors. In Romania, more than 500,000 units of blood are needed per year.

This summer, Neversea will take place from 4 to 7 July in the Romanian coastal city of Constanta. UNTOLD Festival will open its doors to the magical kingdom in the Transylvanian city of Cluj-Napoca from 8 to 11 August.
